The Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis is a key leadership role with significant and broad responsibilities. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and lead a 5-7 person team with substantial opportunity for future growth within the company in concert with driving financial results. As the VP responsible for developing financial planning, forecasting and budgeting, working with the CFO to create the vision on future financial performance, capital structure and strategic planning of the company.

 

As the leader of FP&A, you will work closely with all executive leaders, as well as internal and external partners to collaborate on broader critical initiatives and shape the direction and growth of the overall business in a collaborative dynamic team environment. Strategic decisions will require intense planning and forecasting as the company transforms into a larger and broader specialty finance enterprise.

 

The VP will lead an FP&A team to partner with all business divisions in the company to drive central initiatives and financial efficiency. It is expected to be a small, tight-knit team working directly under the CFO to help bring financial discipline and analysis to the decision-making process in order to accurately scale the business. The team will leverage data from all parts of the company and make it actionable. This position is a hybrid role located in our corporate office in Plano, TX (3 days in office, 2 days WFH). Job responsibilities are as follows:

 

  • Transform, drive and lead the business financial planning process, including direction and oversight on forecasting the balance sheet, income statement and key financial metrics.
  • Lead and develop an FP&A team commensurate with the business demands and growth.
  • Create and lead monthly presentations to executive management and investors on forecasting, planning, performance tracking, etc.
  • Form close, positive relationships with Branch Operations, Centralized Operations, Operations Support, and IT leaders and teams to model how the business works, develop projections and proactively communicate important financial trends.
  • Lead the operational and financial review meetings where business results are shared and drive accountability among business partners.
  • Leverage analytics and develop reporting tools to drive KPIs and develop informative analysis and information for business partners.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses for the business leaders and presentations for important counterparties (investors, ratings agencies, lenders, etc.)
  • Champion improvements to the finance systems and infrastructure to ensure the company’s finance tools remain contemporary and deliver productivity and financial transparency to the business.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience at a financial services company, management consulting firm, investment bank and/or private equity firm. Ideally you should have significant leadership experience leading an FP&A team and processes.
  • Leadership Skills: (i) ability to lead and develop FP&A processes and disciplines, (ii) independently drive and lead projects across functions, and (iii) lead, motivate and energize a team.
  • Strategy and execution: Capacity to resolve problems in a structured way and provide actionable insights to drive growth and financial discipline.
  • Analytical and business rigor: Ability to translate business questions such as “What are the impacts to returns and liquidity if we expand our branch network by 30%?” or “In what ways can we use our balance sheet more efficiently?” into implementable solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication: Strong communication skills that enable you to work efficiently across disparate functional groups and communicate key findings and solutions persuasively.

  • Adaptability, a sense of ownership, and a positive attitude are the keys to success.
  • Multi-tasking prioritization expertise: Experience (and preferably enjoyment of) balancing numerous different priorities and demands.
  • Significant experience with Essbase planning software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business required.
